Measurements & Density: Diameter using Wooden Blocks
Worth 1 Marks • Foundation Level
A student determines the density of a ball.
He places the ball between two wooden blocks, as seen from above in Fig. 1.1. He takes two measurements, d1d_1 and d2d_2.
On Fig. 1.1, measure the lengths d1d_1 and d2d_2.
Give both measurements in cm to the nearest millimetre (0.1 cm).
Fig. 1.1 (View from above) Wooden Block Ball Wooden Block d₁ = 2.7 cm d₂ = 2.5 cm 0 cm 2.7 cm 5.2 cm 7.7 cm
Formula Guide:
Align a ruler with the dimension lines shown on Fig. 1.1. On the official paper scale, the distance d₁ measures 2.7 cm and d₂ measures 2.5 cm (both given to the nearest millimetre).
